My name is Ben Streater. I’m a Melbourne-born chef and father with more than two decades of experience across Australia’s hospitality industry.

My love of food began in the family kitchen, watching my Hungarian grandfather prepare deeply flavoured, generous meals that brought everyone around the table. He taught me the value of hard work, generosity and feeding people well. At 16, I stepped into my first professional kitchen and found a craft that would become a lifelong pursuit.

Travel has been another huge influence on the way I cook. Having explored more than 50 countries, I’ve found inspiration in markets, street stalls, family kitchens and the food traditions that tell the story of a place and its people.

My cooking draws on those experiences — from street food and traditional recipes to the comfort food passed down through generations. I respect those foundations while bringing my own perspective, creating food that is exciting and considered without losing its generosity or soul.

For me, great hospitality is about more than what’s on the plate. Whether it’s an intimate dinner, a long table celebration or a large event, the aim is simple: great food, genuine hospitality and an experience that brings people together.
